Ok, so i’m totally new at this whole garden thing in practice, but i’m currently neck-deep in the search for a new house to live in, and my one big condition is that i have to have room in the yard for a garden. This is sorta phase one of the plan: actually get [...]

In it, he’s discussing the idea that people who use more than a certain amount of per capita energy tend to be enslaved by the social relations that result from all the of infrastructure and centralized political power that delivers the ability to consume that [...]

This week SFU had a referendum to decide membership in the corrupt Canadian Federation of Students, and i just heard that it was a success. They needed a minimum of 5% of all students to vote, and ended up getting around 20%, plus they needed a simple majority of voters and they got 67%. [...]

I’ve been thinking about starting a local food diet, but it seems rather hard to find things at the store that are local. A lot of the organic stuff seems to come from the US, especially california (about +1500km away), and even most of the nonorganic stuff is from the US too. Some [...]

I went out tonight to a meeting of the Vancouver Public Space Network’s Greenspaces Committee. I met 7 very interesting and enthusiastic people and talked about green stuff with them. I wanted to hear about what they hoped to work on in the coming year, and i also wanted to pitch my ideas [...]

Many of the problems that we face today are kept alive by powerful groups that span boundaries and nations. Whenever there’s a turn towards a solution, we are hampered by large media conglomerates, huge corporations, international trade bodies such as the IMF and World Bank and other enforcement mechanisms such as those in NAFTA, [...]
