sexual ownership on tv

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

I was at my parents’ place on sunday, and the TV was on. There was an ad for “That 70s Show” (a popular TV comedy) that showed the following scene:

two guys (hyde and eric) are sitting in the basement talking. They start imagining their female friend in a coconut bikini, but then [...]

bike racing cancelled

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

so, as some of you may know, about 2 weeks ago i registered online for a “Learn To Ride” course at the burnaby velodrome. I was pretty excited about this…it’s a course to teach you how to ride on the bike track, and i’m pretty keen on learning. fast-paced, exciting, good exercise.

good ride on thursday

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

we had our full-moon bike ride on thursday this month (it’s usually on the saturday closest to the full moon). It was a pretty fun ride this time. we started out with 13 people, several of whom i hadn’t met before, and one that i didn’t immediately recognize but had met about 4 [...]

the girl sits in the stroller, holding a tissue, and curiously looks around at all the people near her on the train. Her mom then says to her, “cleaning! cleaning!”, in a cutesy voice, supposedly [...]

cops hate bikes

Saturday, March 12th, 2005

it was a beautiful day out today (as seen here with the sunshine on the cherry blossoms :), and would have been a better night, if not for some silliness on the part of Vancouver’s finest.
I had some friends over for dinner tonight, and when they left i decided to go ride bikes with [...]

reading

Friday, March 11th, 2005

I finished the bell hooks book the other day (”Wounds of Passion”). great book….i highly recommend it. Right now i’m reading “Rethinking Rape” by Ann Cahill. It’s more of a formal-feeling philosophical book about the effects, meaning, and perpetuation of rape in our society. I think the author’s intent is to [...]

location familiarity

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

i had sort of a weird experience on the bus yesterday. I was on my way from work to my parents’ place in delta, and the bus was following the same route that we took on our bikes on sunday. I was watching the road and paying attention to a lot of [...]

deas island ride

Monday, March 7th, 2005

yay, warm weather! i went out for a ride with some friends on sunday, and had a fantastic time. I really want to get out for more long rides, especially as it gets warmer, and this weekend was definitely a good start. Although it was cloudy, the temperature was quite high [...]
