settling in

ahh, starting to unstress after the move. internet’s workin at home, phone’s getting hooked up today, boxes are getting unpacked. I think i’m really gonna like the area. I went down the street the other night to get some groceries near main & 49th, and even the one corner store that was still open was awesome. lots of great indian grocery items that are tough to find outside of surrey, and also a lot of arab stuff…seemed like half the store was labelled in arabic only. maybe i should get back into learning arabic, since i might actually get a chance to use it in this neighbourhood.

whenever i get some spare time, i’m gonna go do some exploring…seems like there are several areas around here that have their own distinct feel. and i have to check out the neighbourhood pub down the street. and then there’s also Queen Elizabeth park. it seems like an alternate universe in there…one minute you’re ridin through east van and there’s low-income housing all over, and then Boom, suddenly there are manicured rose gardens and fancy shit. it’s like the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe or something…gotta look around for the portal back to the real world. I wonder if there are security guards in there at night. more than one way to find out, i guess :)
